TWINPOWER TURBO ENGINES

Every model in the new Hardtop’s lineup comes with a cutting edge MINI TwinPower Turbo that leverages the renowned performance engineering and development expertise of the BMW Group. By supplying immediate torque that holds steady throughout the engine’s power curve, the new MINI Cooper Hardtop goes zero to sixty 2.3 seconds quicker than its predecessor*, giving this new breed of Bulldog a whole lot of bite.

WORLD FAMOUS HANDLING

With all 4 wheels pushed to the corners for a wide, go-kart stance, and ideal front-to-back weight balance, the new Hardtop has plenty of our iconic MINI swagger and go-kart handling. For even tighter control, the new Dynamic Damper Control (DDC) option actually lets you control the stiffness of the suspension. Want a softer, more fuel-efficient ride? Done. Or feeling hungry and in the mood to devour a few sharp turns? The DDC happily complies, stiffening your suspension for even more aggressive cornering.

LAUNCH CONTROL

Speed demons beware: this might be a little much even for you. See, the launch control option helps your MINI start its journey more like a rocket ship than a car. Standard on Cooper S models with Sport automatic transmissions, a computer program controls acceleration, for maximum speed increase without sacrificing traction.  Which is one reason why it takes so much less time for the new Hardtop model to go from 0-60 than its predecessor.

ADJUSTABLE DRIVING MODES

Every MINI Hardtop has 3 driving modes you can switch on the fly. For extra punch, use Sport Mode to automatically adjust your engine, steering and transmission settings points for a stiffer, sportier ride. For softer, more fuel-efficient motoring, switch into Green Mode. With optimized fuel delivery, tweaked shift points and a coasting feature that disengages an automatic transmission when your foot’s off the gas, Green Mode maximizes every last bit of engine efficiency and kinetic energy for downright miserly fuel consumption. Of course, when you want the best of both worlds, kick it into mid-mode for a happy motoring medium.

PERFORMANCE SUSPENSION

Unlike many other cars in their class, our standard Macpherson suspension system features multi-link rear suspension to help keep your wheels at their optimal angle to the road and your tires in full contact with the surface. An especially handy feature for high-speed cornering or unstable road surfaces. The system also has front and rear anti-sway bars and lightweight aluminum rear trailing arms that reduce unsprung weight and increase agility to provide top performance when attacking sharp curves. For even more customizable performance, our adjustable driving modes and optional Dynamic Damper Control vary dampening rates and the tightness of handling.

DYNAMIC STABILITY CONTROL

Having been proven to cut down on accidents, our standard Dynamic Stability Control can be a Motorer's best friend. First, the system uses sensors to measure the steering angle, yaw and lateral acceleration to determine the direction you want to go. Then, if your MINI starts to stray, the DSC system kicks in by applying corrective brake pressure to individual wheels and adjusting engine torque.

PERFORMANCE CONTROL + EDLC

Notch another victory for technical innovation and motoring thrills: your Hardtop offers the option of 3 different driving modes that let the drivers decide exactly how much assistance they want controlling their MINI. With Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) turned on, your MINI will automatically intervene at the slightest hint of instability and help the vehicle stay on a straight path by adjusting the engine power

ELECTRIC POWER-ASSISTED STEERING

"Super-responsive", "incredibly tight" and "unfreakingbelievable" are all terms we've heard to describe the amazingly direct feel of a MINI's steering. The fully electronic system makes adjustments on the go, delivering custom control whether you're maneuvering into a parking space or aiming through a sharp curve in Sport Mode. The EPAS system even helps improve engine performance and reduce fuel consumption since it doesn't draw power from the engine.

CORNERING BRAKE CONTROL

If a driver of a MINI brakes while cornering at speed or changing lanes, Cornering Brake Control (CBC) will help improve the vehicle's stability. By optimizing the braking effects being applied to each wheel and evening out the braking pressure from side-to-side, the CBC system helps drivers maintain control at critical times on the road.
