BREAKAWAY ENGINE

The engine and gearbox in a MINI are designed to break away from its mounts in a head-on collision and absorb the impact, away from the passenger cockpit before it moves backwards. Understanding that sometimes sacrifices are necessary, a MINI's engine will essentially give up its own life to help protect the driver and front passenger.
