DRIVE-BY-WIRE ELECTRONIC THROTTLE

Most car engineers are satisfied with using a cable for the throttle. Makes sense. Cables hardly ever get stretched out, and respond practically right away. But practically right away wasn't good enough for us. So, instead of a cable, we engineered an innovative Drive-by-Wire throttle system. This slice of technological wonder features a computer chip that sends an electronic pulse to the engine the instant you press the gas. The result is an optimized fuel to air mixture and improved performance. The computer also prevents you from flooding the engine (no matter how heavy your lead-foot is).

But that's not all. The Drive-by-Wire throttle also interacts with the ASC system of the MINI Cooper S Convertible or the optional DSC system to manage engine torque and maintain stability and traction. In simple terms, these systems will automatically tell the Drive-by-Wire system to 'back off the throttle' when necessary. But it is more sophisticated than that. The controller monitors the torque at the wheels, not the flywheel, and matches this to what the ASC or DSC determine is required.
