1.6L 16-VALVE TRANSVERSE ENGINE
The MINI Cooper Convertible keeps a chain-driven, 1.6-liter overhead cam, 16-valve transverse 4-cylinder, 115 horsepower engine packed under the bonnet, And it's still mounted transversely, for more cabin space and improved balance and handling. (Although we can't claim exclusivity on this feature anymore. Nowadays, just about everyone copies the innovation we introduced over 40 years ago.)
It features a cast-iron engine that provides low noise, vibration and harshness levels, and is highly reliable, starting unaided in temperatures as low as -13 degrees Fahrenheit. The engine also has bore/stroke measurements of 3.03/3.38 inches to help balance high and low speed engine performance.
