THE MINI ROADSTER: ARRIVING FEBRUARY
Not even the sky's the limit when you're in this uncompromising two-seat convertible. Powered by an efficient 1.6-liter aluminum alloy engine with Valvetronic technology and equipped with a speed-sensitive spoiler for precision handling, it has all the spunk and spirit of our recently launched Coupe, with none of the roof.
DON'T YOU DARE RAISE THE ROOF.
When the soft-top deploys, it's tempting to shield yourself from the turbulence generated by attacking corners and straightaways at searing speeds. But please, use it only in the case of emergencies, such as hail, tornadoes or paparazzi storms.
THE LINES HAVE BEEN DRAWN.
A pair of bold, contrasting sport stripes streak across the bonnet and boot in your choice of Silver or Black. Red sport stripes are reserved exclusively for John Cooper Works models.
SPOILER ALERT.
When a car is so fast and aerodynamic that you need to engineer an active rear spoiler to counteract the lift forces of the Bernoulli effect, you know you're doing something right. Cast in a hybrid steel and SMC resin, the Roadster's rear spoiler not only looks good, but will keep your back end planted firmly on the pavement, even at high velocities. It automatically deploys and retracts depending on driving speed. But at lower speeds, it can also be operated manually by a toggle switch in the cockpit.
BRING YOUR LUGGAGE, LEAVE THE BAGGAGE.
Granted, you don't buy a 2-seat convertible for the cargo room. But by keeping the soft-top compartment separate from the boot, there's plenty of space at your disposal. Clocking in at about 8.5 cu ft, the Roadster's cargo capacity outpaces both the Mazda MX-5 (5.3 cu ft) and Nissan 370Z (6.9 cu ft).* Moving pool cues, snowboards or pole vault equipment? The lockable "through-loading system" will come in handy for longer items.
