MINI CONNECTED APP
With any smartphone and MINI Connected, you can do some pretty impressive things, but if you have an iPhoneŽ and the free MINI Connected iPhone app, you can connect to your MINI in ways like never before. Downloading the MINI Connected iPhoneŽ App will enable the following software-based features.
Web Radio:
Because AM/FM radio stations (and even our standard 1-Year subscription to Sirius) might not be enough, the MINI Connected App unlocks the power of web radio. Tune into many of your favorite web radio stations from around the world and find similar stations with the App's convenient genre-based search.
RSS feeds:
Get the news in your cockpit. The MINI Connected app allows you to select which of your favorite feeds appear on your MINI's high-def display. While driving, use the text-to-speech function and your MINI will dictate the blurbs and articles of your choice, so you can keep your eyes where they belong - on the road.
Facebook and Twitter:
The app puts some of your favorite social media right on your dash. You can read feeds, "like" posts or mark tweets as a favorite, and even post a quick update, choosing from a handful of predefined status updates and tweets that use your MINI's real-time data (temperature, speed, location, etc.). For safety reasons, certain functions of these features are disabled while driving, to prevent distractions.
Google Send To Car:
This is a good one. Say you're at home on your computer and happen to find a destination you'd like to check out. With the MINI Connected app, you can email that destination to your MINI (via a custom email address you'll set-up) and the info will be waiting for you in your car. From there you can pull up the destination details at any time, and even import it directly into the optional Nav system, if your MINI is so equipped.
Google Local Search:
Need to find gas, food, a planetarium? With the MINI Connected app, you can use your MINI's high-def display to search for nearby points of interest, and then send a location directly to the Navigation system (if your MINI has that option).
MINIMALISM Analyzer:
This fun little feature will teach you to drive more efficiently, by monitoring your basic driving behaviors and making you aware of possible ways to up your efficiency. Plus, it has a pretty cool goldfish animation.
PlugIn:
Yet another MINI first. We thought it would make a lot of sense to let people browse their iPod or iPhone's music and videos using our extra-large display AND a familiar interface. By supporting Apple's iPod Out, the MINI Connected PlugIn feature lets you do just that. The familiar Apple-designed iPod/iPhone interface will appear on your MINI's full-color display - just as it does on your iPod or iPhone - making it easy to browse with the MINI's joystick or steering wheel buttons. Plus, you'll get access to the latest iPod features automatically through software updates to Apple's iPhone or iPod.
